On the other hand, if you really want to have bushes around your home, you should go for something that is thorny and painful. First make sure that they are legal in your state, of course. Those firethorn bushes with the red berries should do the trick considering that the thorns are about an inch long. Another thing that you can do is put out a Beware of Dog sign. You do not even need to have a dog. It can deter the person and make them think twice if they want to enter a house with a horrible dog in there. Speaking of sign, you could also put an NRA sticker in the window. Once again this bright person that is set on breaking and entering might just think a little harder on it.
