Some More Security Tips
People should make sure there are no bushes or trees covering low-level
windows that would shield a burglar's attempt to enter, or have tall
branches that would give burglars the ability to climb up to a second
story window, which tend to be left unlocked. On the other hand, if you really want to have bushes around your home, you should go for something that is thorny and painful. First make sure that they are legal in your state, of course. Those firethorn bushes with the red berries should do the trick considering that the thorns are about an inch long. Another thing that you can do is put out a Beware of Dog sign. You do not even need to have a dog. It can deter the person and make them think twice if they want to enter a house with a horrible dog in there. Speaking of sign, you could also put an NRA sticker in the window. Once again this bright person that is set on breaking and entering might just think a little harder on it. What other things do you know of that are low tech and do not require a mobile application or some sophisticated software development?
Make Burglars Avoid Your House
When it comes breaking and entering, people will try to use some deduction as to what house to go into and which ones to avoid. For example, the house at the end of a dusty road that is in the middle of nowhere will be a much better target than one on a busy street in the middle of town. This is not to say that we should all relocate but there are certain things that you can do to deter these burglars. First of all, it might be a good idea to keep the shades down at night and when you leave the house. At night and when you go out of town, make sure to keep some lights on to make it look like someone is home. You could even use the Nest devices that connect to a mobile application so that you have full control of the switches in your house. As far the outside lights go, have floodlights with motion sensors. It can be a great deterrent. Also, if you are away, have the post office hold your mail or have a friend pick it up for you.
